The circus has come to town!

The National Autistic Society Northern Ireland is delighted to be working in conjunction with Streetwise Community Circus on a pilot circus skills programme for young people with autism and their siblings.

The project is for young people between the ages of 11 and 17 and runs for two hours every other Friday evening in Dundonald. After only three sessions we have seen a remarkable development of skills, we have young people stilt walking, learning to juggle, and using unicycles and diabolos. One young person said, “It's really good fun!” and her mum commented, “The staff are brilliant, and really in touch with the young people. It is well structured and the two hours fly with plenty to keep everyone’s attention, and it's a real confidence builder.”

The circus is proving to be a big hit with everyone involved and we hope to find suitable funding to make this an ongoing project.
